Hynek Hermansky is a Director of Research at the IDIAP Martigny, Switzerland, a Professor at the OGI School of Oregon Health and Sciences University, Portland, Oregon, a Fellow of the Hanse Institute for Advanced Studies in Germany, a Fellow at the International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley, California, a Guest Professor at the Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic, and a Visiting Professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.  He has been working in speech processing for over 30 years, previously as a Research Fellow at the University of Tokyo, a Research Engineer at Panasonic Technologies in Santa Barbara, California, a Senior Member of Research Staff at U S WEST Advanced Technologies, and a Professor and Director of the Center for Information Processing at OHSU Portland, Oregon. He is a Fellow of IEEE for "Invention and development of perceptually-based speech processing methods", a Member of the Board of the International Speech Communication Association, a Member of the Editorial Board of Speech Communication, and a Member of the Editorial Board of Phonetica, holds 5 US patents and authored or co-authored over 130 papers in reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He holds Dr.Eng. Degree from the University of Tokyo, and Dipl. Ing. Degree from Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic.  His main research interests are in acoustic processing for speech and speaker recognition.
