Call for Exhibition in First ISSNIP Industrial Showcase in the Field of Sensors and Sensor Networks

The 2nd International Conference on Intelligent Sensors, Sensor Networks and Information Processing – 2005 (ISSNIP 2005)  has already attracted experts in the field of sensor research from USA e.g. UCI Berkeley, Missouri to the EU e.g. Twente, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and so on. The conference is an annual event and the second in the first series of Australian sensor conferences. Currently the conference has also drawn researchers from a wide range of industries with expressions of interest from Ford USA, Nokia to BionicEar in Australia. Several conference participants e.g. DSTO Australia are looking to set up sensor test beds and will be very interested in the available hardware.  In view of this, we are pleased to announce the first ISSNIP company showcase special session which would be held during the ISSNIP conference in Langham hotel Melbourne. The session would consist of presentations from industry on their applications and products in the field of sensors and sensor networks. In addition, a whole day exhibition is also currently planned.

Products of interest

  • Motion, pressure, weight/load sensors.

  • Infrared, thermo, audio sensors.

  • Sensors with wireless capabilities.

Applications of interest

  • Target tracking and defense.

  • Deployment of distributed Sensor Networks.

  • Surveillance and management systems e.g. water systems, automobile industry.

  • Generic sensor test beds for research.

The objectives of this industrial showcase event include but are not limited to

a) To introduce companies to experts in the field of sensors who may be possible future clients or project collaborators.

b) To introduce researchers to the available sensor products, the companies which make them and to potential industry partners.

c) To relate the theoretical work presented in the conference with the practical applications already in industry.

The conference together with the e-Science conference sponsors 40 postgraduate student grants to foster student participation and enable them to see the benefit of research and working opportunities in industry. This session would also benefit them in helping them choose their career path after graduation. The participation from industry would greatly enhance the conference and contribute towards future collaborations in the exciting and challenging field of sensors and sensor networks in Australia.
